We, Sonja and Andreas Martin, have been running this very special hotel with passion and devotion since 2002. Our 17 rooms will charm you with their cosiness: All of the furnishings are crafted from native wood, and the rooms reflect the modern, straight-line designs of the renowned Architect Hans-Jörg Ruch. We cater to your culinary tastes with market-fresh Engadine, Bünden and Veltlin specialities – in our cosy Swiss-stone-pine lounge-restaurant, which has been awarded 15 Gault Millau points and by the Michelin Guide.

This impressive building on the River Inn served as a guest house as long ago as the 16th century: the original Engadine farmhouse combined farming and goods storage with beds for drovers and travellers. From the 18th to circa 20th century, the Gasthaus Krone was extended and renovated. The Krone experienced turbulent times with many changes of ownership – up to the year 2002.
With a well-being concept in mind, the hotel was renovated and extended over the following years and refurbished in 2015: the former Kronen Lounge became the Steiner Lounge – a cosy place to relax. The conservatory, «Lobi à La Punt», was also refurbished. At the heart of all this lie the River Inn and the bridge over the river, both of which are steeped in history.
Before the Krone became an object of speculation, it was bought by the Zurich businessman Beat Curti.
What could be nicer than treating your body to some downtime after a hike or a cross-country trip? Relax and unwind in the sauna as you soak up the stunning views of the local mountain, Piz Mezzaun. The double steam showers in our suites provide well-being in the privacy of your personal surroundings. Also, massages can be booked with advance notice.

The Michelin Guide praised our Swiss specialities, the regional cosiness, and the wine menu. For the twelfth time in a row, we received the coveted Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide for the best value for money.
The Gault Millau has again awarded the Krone 15 points and especially praises our hospitality, along with the quality of the products. The Guide Bleu gave us 7 out of 10 for the «high-quality food culture».
In the category of Switzerland’s best 3-Star hotels, the Krone was awarded 5th place. The comment by the SonntagsZeitung: «Beautiful lounges behind 450 year old walls. An ingenious work of art.»
